COMMISSION NEWS: TOBACCO ADDITIVES

TOBACCO ADDITIVES: The EU put out a preliminary list of tobacco additives, part of the implementation of the 2014 directive tightening rules for manufacturing and sales. The opinion is a list of ingredients that “because of their properties that contribute to a product’s toxicity or addictiveness, result in a characterizing flavor, facilitate inhalation or nicotine uptake, and/or lead to the formation of substances that have carcinogenic, mutagenic properties or that are toxic for reproduction.” The Commission is taking comments until Sept. 6. A second opinion will address guidelines for the studies companies may have to carry out on these additives. http://bit.ly/1egjew2
