TYPHOID IN SYRIAN REFUGEE CAMP: UN agency UNRWA reported a typhoid outbreak in a Palestinian refugee camp in Yarmouk near Damascus with at least six confirmed cases yesterday. Their medical personnel established a mobile health point after access to the area had been suspended since June 8. The agency has now been authorized to provide limited health assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene supplies. Typhoid stems from contaminated water and foods and, therefore, lack of hygiene and safe water and food sources render the refugees vulnerable to the bacteria that causes it. Complete story here:
